Villa Mieres Pipe Band born in 1996, in Mieres, miner city from Asturias, northern Spain.

2005. Gallegos (Mieres)

The members of the "Villa Mieres Pipe Band" are performers and students from the Conservatory of Mieres Pipe Music Academy. Althought founded recently the band offers a quality performance mainly due to experience and ability of it's members. Among other the director, Jorge Fdez. Areces won the 1995 MacAllan award (Lorient Festival, France), other pipers of the band was in the first places of the "Ciudad de Oviedo" and "Remis Ovalle" Asturian Pipes Championships.

Budapest 2004 (Hungary)

We play traditional Asturian music, as well as galician, scottish and some of our own compositions.

The band's uniforms are traditional woolen asturian dresses based on 19th. century lithographies, hand made on antique looms.

Guingamp 2003 (Brittany)

Performances

The pipe band has played along this years in lots of places around Asturias, Spain and Europe (France, Belgium, England, Scotland, Hungary) in music, celtic and folk festivals.

Also the band has played with singers as: Luz Casal, Victor Manuel, Carlos Nuñez, Carlos Rubiera, Skanda, Tejedor and Asturiana Mining Company.

At mass media: Mieres' documental for Autonomic Production TV chanbel, at TV program "Luar" at TVG channel (Galician TV), in a BBC english TV channel about our folklor and for RTP (Portuguese TV State Channel) for introduce Spanish matches at Portugal 2004 Football Eurocup.

They are prepairing their first CD, with the collaboration of Mieres Town Hall and some local Enterprises.
